The Italian Institute of Culture in Amsterdam continues its series of Artist Talks with the most interesting Italian artists residing in the Netherlands: the protagonist of the third evening of this year is Pierfrancesco Gava who will propose a selection of his works (‘A Glorious Society’, ‘Consensus’, ‘Excommunication’) along with sequences from movies considered a source of inspiration, such as Charlie Chaplin’s ‘The Great Dictator’, Pier Paolo Pasolini’s ‘Il Decameron’, Johan Grimonprez’s ‘Dial History’ and Aernout Mik’s artistic projects. The artist talk will be introduced by the curator of the program Marco Nember.

Pierfrancesco Gava 
(Recanati, 1972) lives and works in Amsterdam. Recent solo and group exhibitions include

 ‘Higher by Spinning’ (33rd International Festival – Sarajevo, 2017), ‘Tentoonbazen’ (BAK – Utrecht, 2016), ‘Over grenzen, de menselijke maat’ (# Aftrat4, ARTtrium, Ministerie Binnenlandse Zaken en Koninkrijksrelatie – Den Haag, 2016), ‘In Principio Erat Verbum’ (in conversation with Aernout Mik, 1646 – Den Haag, 2015), ‘Frame of Mind’ (De Kijkdoos Project Space – Amsterdam, 2015), ‘The Fine Art of Peacemaking’ (The Hague Peace Projects – GEMAK, Den Haag 2015).

Marco Nember (Brescia, 1977) lives and works in Amsterdam. From 2014  he’s curating the Artist Talk’s program at the Italian Institute of Culture in Amsterdam. He has collaborated with Vlaams Cultuurhuis De Brakke Grond (Amsterdam), Museum Beelden aan Zee (Den Haag ), De Appel Arts Centre PS (Amsterdam) and Kunstverein (Amsterdam and Milan) among others.

Established in 2014, the Blue439 Foundation is committed to innovation by developing concepts able to investigate modern and contemporary art, while exploring ideas across cultures through events, exhibitions and digital platforms. Marco Nember (Brescia, 1977) is founder and director of Blue439 Foundation.
